I definitely struggle with this. In Facebook, I have all my friends separated into lists. I have lists for people I've net in the music scene and also people I know through church or Christian college. And the same stuff doesn't always get posted. Working on that!

I tend to agree with you Steve. Facebook actually makes the existence of these platforms easier, because people can post "connect with me on X" to their audience. But it would have to be a very compelling reason for me to be heavily involved in another social network when all of my 'friends' are on Facebook and/or Twitter.

Google+ is good. But people do not need another social network. I think competition like this (Google+ is a smart idea) will only help Facebook stay sharp.

Good thoughts here Mitch. I don't think it will die because of the really well thought out user interface... but much like my friends who use Twitter well, they STILL are on Facebook because the whole world is there as of now. We don't NEED another tool, but companies are going to continue to develop them because of the super high interest from consumers.

Thanks for your thoughts.

It's a good question, particularly when put into the context of money, faith, politics, sex and other controversial topics. However, I think the answer lies in the old birds of a feather adage. You are often most comfortable with people like you and people like you are most likely to like you. Yet I also find I must step out of my comfort zone to connect with people on a level I couldn't from the armchair.

ps I don't really care for + at all. I've added it to my list of google ideas that I believe will die, for all they got right they still have too much wrong. Although some will like it, I don't think it gets anywhere near the mainstream traction that facebook has. (which is probably good for you. ;-P)
